Today's ANSYS: A new bladeless fan (Dyson)
Introducing a case study on the application of CFD to Dyson's "Dyson Air Multiplier (a new type of fan without blades)."
I would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are beneficial to society, along with interesting application examples, primarily based on articles from the information magazine "ADVANTAGE" published by ANSYS, Inc. and ANSYS Japan Co., Ltd. This time, I will present a CFD application case for Dyson's "Dyson Air Multiplier (a bladeless fan)." When I first saw this product in an electronics store and in commercials, I was truly amazed. The features of the bladeless fan "Dyson Air Multiplier" include: - Safety - The phenomenon of "buffeting," where airflow around an aircraft separates from the surface and creates vortices that vibrate the aircraft, does not occur - Reduced noise - By forming a high-speed air layer that draws in surrounding air, it delivers a large volume of air, creating a smooth breeze similar to a natural zephyr. This case suggests that further design efficiency could be achieved by coupling it with the multi-purpose robust design optimization support tool "modeFRONTIER" offered by IDAJ.
